Virginia. Center in Paris

The atelier must be used by the candidate as designated by the Atelier Committee for the agreed time, a two month minimum.  The candidate may bring a spouse/companion and one child (at additional expense). If the child is 7 or older, they are considered your spouse/companion. No pets are allowed.

Starting Jan. 2025, residents will enjoy a completely renovated studio/living space completed at a cost of over $40,000.

All applicants who have been accepted for a specific term of residency after Jan. 1, 2025 must remit a $300 renovation assessment within 30 days of acceptance measured by the date of the acceptance letter. An additional $300 assessment must be paid no later than 30 days prior to the start of the residency, i.e. December 1 for a January occupancy, etc. This assessment will assist in repayment of the renovation loan.

Payment may be made electronically at Renovation Assessments or by mailing a check made payable to Friends of the Virginia Center in Paris posted to: 307 6th Street, Radford, VA 24141.

Occupancy for one person is 541 euros per month (about $590 in 2024. Occupancy for each additional person is 165 euros per month plus a 66 euro short term fee. If you would like a piano in your studio, it is an extra 60 – 75 euros. Access to other studios, like printmaking and ceramics, have additional fees.
